William Rex Palmer of Wilmington, DE, age 57 passed away on October 29, 2018, after a long battle with cancer.
Rex was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and the Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades. Rex was a machinist for many years and a self-employed contractor. He had a passion for fixing things and there wasn’t anything he could not fix.
He was a devout member of Aldersgate Church where he was on the Board of Trustees and would often be found working on fixing something. Rex was often heard to say that he was blessed every day, even while battling his illness. His faith never wavered. He enjoyed many hobbies including his love for muscle car collecting, selling old car parts on the internet, his love for animals and fishing to name a few.
He is pre-deceased in death by his mother Lenore E. (Harvey) Palmer and G. Richard Palmer Sr. Rex is survived by his brother G. Richard Palmer Jr. and his wife Anita of Wilmington, his sister, Pamela Jill Palmer of Wilmington, his ex-wife Janet, his children Jeannie McMullen (Erin O’Brien), Jamie Parker (Joshua Parker) grandson Brody Barrowcliff, Kyle Palmer (Christine Palmer) grandson Dominic Palmer along with nieces and nephews, Katie, Dan, Jeff, Molly, Courtney and Justin.
Visitation will be held on Monday November 5th at 10:00am with services following at 11:00 am at Aldersgate Methodist Church, 2313 Concord Pike Wilmington, Del. 19803. Burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers Rex would like donations to the Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades, 106 S. New Middletown Road, Media, PA 19063 or to the Delaware Humane Assoc., 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
