Wendy Anne Barnhill

Wendy Anne Barnhill (Jackson) age 88, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully after a long illness on November 21, 2024. Anne was born in June of 1936 to Wendell and Margaret “Peggy” Jackson in Wilmington, DE. She graduated from Wilmington Friends School in 1954 and attended Hollins College in Roanoke, VA where she studied Biology.

Anne was a gifted artist. She was a painter of portraits and landscapes. There are many such watercolors in the Wilmington and eastern shore area. Anne also loved to teach the children to paint. She taught at Wroxeter school and Tatnall school. She was an active member of the Howard Pyle Studio Group on N. Franklin Street. Anne loved the water and spent many years racing and cruising on the family sailboats.  Anne and Glenn also made many trips to coastal Maine, which inspired many of her watercolors of water and coastlines. She and her husband enjoyed many years of visits from neighbors and their children coming over to enjoy the pool. Anne consistently had a mindset of “the more, the merrier.” She had a heart of gold and always made sure that all were made to feel welcome.

Anne is survived by her husband and best friend, Glenn P. Barnhill and their five children, Sandy Michaelson (Molly), Robert Michaelson (Traci), Deborah Barnhill Diver, Glenn P. Barnhill Jr. (Delvin), and James S. Barnhill (Tara). Anne was a beloved grandmother to 10 grandchildren, Andrew, Sabrina, Stephanie, Lukas, Annalise, George, Christopher, Trevor, Charlie, and Graham. She was a great-grandmother to 4 great-grandchildren.
