Victor R. Davis

On Friday, March 4, 2022, Victor Richard Davis, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at age 70.

Vic was born in 1952, in Bryn Mawr, PA to Victor and Marjorie (Bowden) Davis. In his youth he was athletic, outgoing, and always managed to find adventure with his two younger brothers. He also loved going on long car rides with his grandfather and listening to stories of the good old days. Inspired and encouraged by his grandfather, Vic started a summer job after high school at PECO as a meter reader. Vic received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Drexel University in 1974. Vic proceeded to have a long and successful career of over 4 decades with Delmarva Power. He ended his career as the Manager of System Operations and was incredibly respected and admired in his field.

While he found his career to be extremely rewarding, he was fiercely dedicated to his family. While working at Delmarva Power, Vic met his wife Pat and asked her to be his doubles partner in the company tournament. Love now took on a new meaning (tennis humor). They married at Holy Family Church on April 21, 1979 and had two children together: Margie and Victor. Vic was a loving dad whose self-proclaimed favorite moments were spending quality time with his children for two weeks every year in Fenwick Island, DE.

Vic enjoyed spending his time on his life passions including tennis, volleyball, running, history, and his great affection for animals. He was also an avid music lover and a collector of vinyl records. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, tremendous faith, and his kind and compassionate spirit – he will be greatly missed.

Vic was preceded in death by his father, Victor, and his brother, Robert. He is survived by his wife Pat, his two children, Margie and Victor, Daughter in law, Gabrielle, Grandsons, Victor and Franklin, his brother Tim, and his mother, Marjorie.

A visitation service for Vic will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 1-2:00 pm at Sycamore Hill Baptist Church located at 505 Schoolhouse Road., Hockessin, DE, 19707. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Vic’s church, Sycamore Hill Baptist Church.
