Usha Sumant Acharya, 76, most recently of Hockessin, DE, died June 30, 2017.
Usha was born in Mombasa, Kenya in 1941. She graduated from Dutchess of Gloucester School, and completed her medical training at both Grant Medical College in Mumbai and Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi. On July 4, 1968, she married Sumant Acharya, moved to Chicago in 1971 and together they founded their medical practice in Elmhurst, IL.
Usha lived a life in which togetherness with family and friends was of unparalleled importance. She was a loving mother, sister, wife, auntie, and grandmother. She was a pillar of strength, and brought together family and friends from around the world through her mind, heart, and spirit.
Usha was preceded in death by her husband, Sumant Dhirubhai Acharya; brother, Subhash Ambalal Patel; brothers-in-law, Jitendra Jayantilal Patel and Kirit Dhirubhai Acharya; her mother, Shantaben Ambalal Patel; and her father, Ambalal Bhailalbhai Patel.
She is survived by many beloved family members, including her son, Pinak (Nishaminy), and grandchildren Karan and Kesar of Maple Glen, PA; daughter Sheetal (Greg Ghiardi), and grandchildren Roenak, Reya and Zuri of Marquette, MI; sister-in-law Manilaben (Subhash); four brothers, Arvind (Rasika), Yogish (Anjna), Kishore (Nitu), and Jayprakash (Harshika); and two sisters, Shashikala (Jitu) and Shakuntala. She is also survived by her husband’s loving family including brother Pankaj (Asha), sister-in-law Gita (Kirit), and sisters Jyoti (Ramesh) and Divya (Kirit).
