Trudie Ramsey

Trudie Ramsey passed to eternal life April 2, 2023 after numerous health issues over the past few years. She was born in October of 1943 in Wilmington, Delaware, the oldest child of James J. and Catherine Helmetag McKeough. She attended Mount Pleasant High School. She was a competitive swimmer, and she and her sister swam many miles at local pools and at the lake at Eagles Mere, Pennsylvania where the Helmetag family had maintained a long term presence.

Trudie attended Drexel University where she majored in textiles and home economics. This was fitting as she was a great seamstress, knitter and into arts and crafts. A few years after graduation, Trudie, her husband Bob and her beloved daughter Megan lived in New Jersey. For the last 30 years, they had a beautiful home overlooking Birchwood Lakes near Medford. They loved the Jersey shore, and they had a darling cottage in Cape May Point for many years. They also liked to travel—often to Colorado and to the Keys and Anna Maria Island in Florida. Trudie worked many years for the Philadelphia school district, originally as a home economics teacher, but then she was placed in charge of installation and maintenance of computers in her school. She received many recognitions for her dedicated work. She was tough and she survived lymphoma with extensive chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant some 15 years ago.

The family appreciates the excellent and compassionate care by Brightview at Greentree over the last three years, and it was the devoted service of Darlene Cirafesi and Kelly Kinkade who provided companionship that made her life so enjoyable during this time. The family also appreciates the services of Lisa Foster who kept things on-track.

She is predeceased by her parents, an infant brother, her husband, Robert (Bob) Ramsey Jr. and her brother James McKeough, a special needs person, who received loving care from Elwyn Institute and the family, especially Trudie and Bob. She is survived by her sister, Kay McKeough of Houston, Texas and her daughter, Megan O’Neal of Campbell, California, from a previous marriage along with several cousins. She was such a caring person, and it is now for her to be taken care of by the angels.

Funeral Services

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Trudie’s honor may made to Elwyn Institute, 111 Elwyn Road, Elwyn, Pa. 19063.

A Celebration of her Life will be held this summer.

    Barbara Nuessle writes,
I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Trudie’s passing. After Bob passed away, Warren and I lost track of Trudie. We became friends at a dune beach planting in Cape May Point where we both had summer homes and rentals. We both enjoyed our escape weekends during the fall and spring weekends when we worked on our homes and enjoyed dinners at each other’s homes or restaurants. Trudie was a fabulous cook as well as a great teacher and artist. Bob took great care of Trudie after she was injured at her school when a storm window fell on her head. He also helped her through her Cancer recovery. Then, she helped Bob though his fatal fight with COPD. After she retired to Medford and after Covid, we lost track of Trudie. I so wanted to renew our friendship, but when I searched for her tonight, I came upon her Obit. My husband and I are both deeply grieved to learn it is too late. Sending our condolences to her daughter and sister. Barb & Warren Nuessle
