Robert Charles Kohn

Robert Charles Kohn died on March 29,2017. He lived in Jenner’s Pond, Jennersville, PA. Prior to that, the Kohns had resided in Landenberg, PA. and Hockessin, DE. They also have a home in Bethany Beach, Delaware.

He was born in Hustisford, Wisconsin, on April 29, 1934. His parents were Waldemar and Ferne Kohn. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was an instructor of Drawing and Descriptive Geometry at the University and was a member of Triangle Fraternity.

Bob married Sara Towell on September 5, 1958. They met as students at UW. She passed away on November 7, 2013 after 55 years of marvelous married life. She was dearly missed.

He worked for DuPont for 38 years before retiring in 1994 as Business Director, DuPont Fluorochemicals. He held sales, marketing and business positions including assignments as Senior Account Manager in the Petroleum Chemicals Division, Regional Manager ” Freon”, Manager of Distributor Relations and National Accounts in the Explosives Division and, later, National Sales Manager in the “Freon” Products Division. He served as Administrative Manager in the Marketing Division of the Chemicals and Pigments Department and as Manager of Marketing Services prior to his assignment as Business Director – Fluorochemicals.

Bob was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church, Hockessin, and served on the church councils at Lutheran churches in Syracuse, Wilmington and Hockessin.

He was a board member of the University of the Wisconsin Alumni Club of Delaware and served three terms as President.

He attended the Academy of Life Long Learning and volunteered for Meals on Wheels, the St. Stephens Food Pantry, the Make-A-Wish triathlon, the McDonalds LPGA, the Riverfront Arts Center, the Delaware Antiques Show and the Winterthur Museum and was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. He had been a member of the DuPont Country Club.

Bob and Sara traveled extensively in Europe and Asia and spent every February for over 20 years in St. Thomas. Bob also traveled frequently to South America and Southeast Asia on business activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Sara, and his grandson, Andrew Brady Kohn.

He is survived by his 3 children, Andrew {Kristen), Johanna (Thom), and Kristina Hahn (Christian), his brother William and wife Margaret of New Hudson, Michigan, and by 9 grandchildren.

Funeral Services

Memorial Services will be held at the Grace Lutheran Church, 2033 Graves Road, Hockessin, DE on Friday April 7th, 2017.
