Robert A. “Butch” Ciccone

Robert Ciccone, known to friends and family as “Butch,” passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018 after a brief illness. Butch was a native of Claymont, Delaware, son of Edmund J. Ciccone and Gloria Johanna (Monti) Ciccone, and a graduate of Claymont High School, class of 1963. Upon graduation, Butch enlisted in the U.S Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam conflict. Returning to civilian life, Butch began a 34 year career with Scott Paper/Kimberly Clark rising to position of Plant Mill Supervisor. Upon retirement, the entrepreneur in Butch appeared and he created a cable and wiring company along with home improvements. Butch was always there for family and friends in need of a home repair project.

Butch enjoyed his memberships with Delaware Veterans Association, Piedmont Club, American Legion, Elks Lodge 307 and the sweeps group at Rock Manor Golf Course. At the Elks, Butch was very active with the Thursday night shuffleboard league where he not only played but maintained the boards for years. Additionally, when golf wasn’t an option, Butch spent his time cheering on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and anything Pittsburgh!

Butch is survived by his loving wife and best friend Elizabeth “Betty” Ciccone, nee Lee, his daughter Lisa Miresse, and her husband Captain Steven Miresse USAF, and two beautiful grandchildren, Brandon Robert and Meredith Lauren of Anchorage, Alaska. Butch is also survived by sisters Gloria Jean Montisano, Barbara Ann Ciccone, Tina Sue Staub, and brothers Edmund Nicholas, Michael Joseph, and Joseph Anthony. Butch was predeceased by his parents and sister Carol Lee Lyon.

Butch was a great friend to all, and in difficult times Butch would offer that “good players adjust”. Well Butch, we may adjust as time passes, but we will still miss you greatly.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 with a visitation prior from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will be private at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
