Rita C. Layton, 94, gracefully transitioned to be with the Lord on October 26, 2023 at her home of 75 years in Seaford, DE.

Rita was born in 1929 to Julius and Hilda Craft of Bridgeville DE, one of six children.  Rita graduated from Bridgeville High School in 1947.  She was married to Paul E. Layton in 1948.  She held many positions in her life, most significantly, Wife, Mother and Sister.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E., and her dear son Paul S. Layton.  Rita is survived by her loving brother, Donald Craft (Eileen) of Bridgeville, DE, her sister-in-law Ann E. Layton of Greenwood, DE, a daughter Teresa Dayton of Seaford, DE and sons Randall Layton (Betsy) and Douglas Layton (Kimberly) of Bridgeville, DE, Grandchildren, Paula Hemphill, Samantha Layton, Staci Altman, Joshua Layton, Olivia Layton along with five great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

Rita was as giving and gracious in death as in life and following her service as a “Silent Teacher” for the University of Delaware, her memorial and interment will be private.

    I am so saddened to learn of Aunt Rita's passing. I have such wonderful memories of visiting from MI with Dad, Mom, and siblings. I have so many memories of sharing time with Mom Mom, Pop Pop, and all the family. Aunt Rita was such a lovely lady; and, I am grateful Dad made it a priority for us to get to know our Delaware/Maryland family. My prayers are with Terry, Randy, Doug, Uncle Donald/Aunt Eileen and all of our family/loved ones. RIP, Aunt Rita. Give my love, hugs/kisses to everyone in Heaven with you. I love you. God Bless. 💞
