Peter Kennedy Moran

On Friday, April 7, 2023, one of the good guys said goodbye. Peter Kennedy Moran – aka PK, Pete, Chief and PopPop – died peacefully with Susan Wylie Moran, his wife of nearly 61 years and loving family by his side.

Born in Drexel Hill, PA in October 1938 to Thomas A. Moran and Ann K. Moran, Peter was raised in Villanova and graduated from Radnor High School. He went on to Penn State University, majoring in Business Administration and fun.  He was a loyal member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

Following graduation, he enrolled in the Navy Officers Candidate School in Newport, RI, commissioned as an Ensign. After 4 years of service, he joined the DuPont Company in its Textile Fibers Department in New York City. He enjoyed a long successful sales and marketing career, becoming known as “Mr. Tyvek” as he helped introduce Housewrap to the home building industry.

In retirement, Peter loved life, his dogs & cats, sports, cooking, and gin & tonics. A lovable grump with a tiny smile, Peter was a man of few words but strong convictions.

In addition to his wife, Peter is survived by their two children, Peter Kennedy Moran, Jr. (Ann Huffman) and Laura Wylie Moran along with grandchildren, Chase Kennedy Moran, Morgen Piper Moran and step grandchildren: Sarah Schmidt (Matt), David and Meredith Huffman . He is predeceased by his parents and stepmother, Elizabeth L. Moran.

Peter will be remembered for his thoughtfulness, dry wit, keen insight, and annual Soup Bowl. He will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Country House Employee Appreciation Fund, 4830 Kennett Pike, Wilmington, DE 19807 will be welcomed.

Funeral Services

Burial will be private.  A celebration of life will be held at Wilmington Country Club on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 2-4PM.
