Peter E. Nicholson

Peter E. Nicholson passed away on November 12, 2023 in Bear, DE. Born in Augusta, GA in August 1957, he was the son of Carlton K. and Nancy C. Nicholson.

Peter’s family lived in Aiken, SC for his first six years.  His father’s employment with DuPont took them to Wilmington, DE for three years, then to Palatine, IL for four years, and finally transferred back to Wilmington in 1970. In 1998, Peter bought a house in Bear where he lived for 25 years.

Peter graduated from Concord High School in 1975 and attended the University of Delaware receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture in 1979.

After college, Peter worked at the Bank of Delaware before starting employment at Southern States in Newark, DE. At Southern States, he was able to utilize his degree selling products to the local farmers and ranchers. After a few years there, Peter decided it was time to start his own business and created a landscaping business called Everything Green. Peter took on many clients, tackling a number of jobs from bigger estates (hardscape and landscape) to the mowing of small residential yards. Peter took a lot of pride in his work and even took on jobs that involved building custom sheds and construction of all types. Throughout his life, he was a man of many talents that included rebuilding cars, Jeeps and motorcycles to bartending and catering.

Peter had many interests, but none greater than the outdoors and nature itself. He was a Boy Scout growing up and continued to go camping, boating, bicycling and hiking throughout his life. He also loved movies and music as he attended many concerts and even played a little guitar himself. Peter loved dogs so there was never a time where he didn’t have a four-legged friend to keep him company.

Peter was predeceased by his parents and his brother Andrew. He is survived by son Ryan Nicholson of Wilmington; sister Laura Nicholson of Wilmington; brother Bill Nicholson and Barbara Lilley of Wilmington; nephew William Nicholson Jr., his wife Amanda and son William III of Idaho. He is also survived by his uncle Dan Clark; cousins Becky, Larry and Paul, all of East Aurora, NY. Peter is also survived by Ryan’s mother Stacey Truemper of Wilmington.
