P. S. Parameswaran

P.S. Parameswaran (Param) passed away peacefully in his sleep Tuesday October 24, 2023 at the age of 85.

P.S. was one of six children born to Subramanium and Anamma on September 14, 1938 in Mumbai, India.  Smart and hard-working, he achieved a Bachelors of Commerce & MS from R A Podar College of Commerce & Economics. After obtaining his advanced degree, P.S. started his career in Accounting. In 1966 he met and married his wife Girija Srinivasan. After marriage, P.S. came to America in 1970 to further his career and once established, Girija joined him in America, first living in New York City. Soon after they welcomed their first son Vasan followed by son Subash and then settled in Newark, Delaware where he resided till his passing. After three decades in Accounting, most significantly over two decades as an accountant at DuPont, P.S. began his retirement. P.S., however, didn’t stray far from finance as he enjoyed spending time following the stock market. Aside from his family, P.S.’s greatest love was tennis. He played and coached both his sons, attended countless matches and loved to watch professional tennis. That love will live on, in his memory, among his children and grandchildren.

P.S. was predeceased by brothers Mani and Krishnan. He is survived by his caring wife of 57 years, Girija; two sons, Vasan (Nithya) and Subash (Carrie); grandchildren Jay, Rahul, and Poppy; and siblings Rajan, Shankar, and Jana.

Dear Vasan It is a solemn moment of grief as we bid farewell to my beloved brother Param affectionately called Pammachu in family.Being together in childhood in Mumbai with parents,I cherish the happy moments in flashback. After his post graduation in commerce and marriage to Girija he left for greener pasture to US finally settling in Delaware, Param's core identity is his humility and simplicity. He loved all family members and friends dearly and reciprocated equally. He and Girija had numerous friends thanks to their amiable nature.Param loved sport and played tennis his favourite sport. He inspired his sons, grandsons and also kid granddaughter Poppy to the game. As we bid adieu to him with sorrow and grief,we pray that he rests in peace leaving fond memories and thoughts to reflect.

Dear Girija, Vas and Nithya, It is really sad to hear about the sudden demise of Param. Our heart felt condolences to all family members and we share your sorrow at this time of grief. Though we met him and Girija briefly during our US trip, we were overwhelmed with their hospitality and kindness. Param was so polite, humble and soft spoken. He hosted a lunch for us and saw that we felt comfortable at their premise. We will really miss him. It would be a great loss to family and friends that he is no more with them. We pray that his soul rests in peace. God Bless
