Nancy Stuart Edwards

Nancy Stuart Edwards, age 84, a resident of Cokesbury Village for many years, passed into the arms of her God on January 20, 2021.

Born in Salem, New Jersey, July 6, 1936, she attended Bucknell University and graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. A short career with the DuPont Company was followed by a 15-year career with the Historical Society of DE as a guide in New Castle at the George Read House. She volunteered at the Winterthur Museum in Membership Services for many years and passionately participated in the Read Aloud Delaware program, reading one-on-one,  at various daycare sites in the city. She was a lifetime member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity and cherished her sisterhood. Nancy’s radiant smile and friendly personality would light up any room. She will be dearly missed by her many friends. She is survived by her husband of 60 years  Donald and cousins Kendra, Kristen, Kyle, and Douglas.

Memorials can be made to the Donald & Nancy Edwards scholarship fund at the Delaware Community Foundation, P.O. Box 1636, Wilmington, DE 19899.

Mr. Edwards, I am very sorry to hear about Mrs. Edwards. I remember her most at the Centerville Swim Club, reading endless books in the summers and sharing with me what she was reading. I remember also how happy the two of you were together, just the two of you, and how that made you stand out in the group of friends who all had kids. Take care of yourself Mr. Edwards, and let your friends take care of you too. --- Karen
