Nancy Regina Fogg Parsons, age 79, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on August 4th, 2024 at Kutz Nursing Home, after a long battle with multiple myeloma.
She grew up in Hyde Park in Boston, MA; the daughter of George and Freda Fogg, and graduated from Hyde Park High School. She then went to UMass-Amherst, where she graduated with a bachelor of arts in 1969, majoring in English and minoring in art. She developed a love of writing poetry and drawing during that time. She worked as a nurses’ aide at New England Baptist Hospital and Cooley Dickinson Hospital while in college. Education was very important to Nancy, and she worked at the UMass library for several years, before traveling to live in Spain, Italy and Morocco for several years in the mid-1970s. Afterwards, she returned to the UMass library for several more years, before moving to New Jersey and then Delaware and raising her two children. She later returned to her favorite profession; working at the Concord Pike, Brandywine Hundred and Claymont libraries from 1990 to 2017. Nancy was an avid reader, talented at drawing and loved cooking. She was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan, ever since her father took her to games at Fenway Park when she was a child. She also loved traveling, visiting England and Scotland with her family several times.
Nancy was warm and compassionate and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her son John Parsons, daughter Jennifer Sturgess, son-in-law Adam Sturgess, and granddaughter Lila Sturgess. She also is survived by her brother Stephen Fogg, nieces Linda Smith, Sandy Royce and Donna Fogg, and many cousins. She is also survived by in-laws who meant very much to her, including Dianne Theriault, Bobby Parsons, Linda Rude, John Parsons, JoAnne Braun and Wayne Parsons.
Nancy’s ashes will be buried in a family grave in Boston; details to follow on a memorial in October.
Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society of Delaware (LLS), for their annual Light the Night fundraising event on October 5th. The Barclays team fundraising page is available at https://pages.lls.org/ltn/de/wilmington24/barclays. The team’s total raised will be matched by Barclays in October.
