Nancy Hawkins Boden, age 88, of Hockessin, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home on December 20, 2024.
Nancy was born in Larchmont, New York in 1936 to Ralph and Mildred Hawkins. She graduated from New Rochelle High School and the University of Vermont, where she met her future husband, Herb. They were married in 1957, lived in Columbus, Ohio for a few years and eventually moved to Wilmington, Delaware.
In her early married years, she was a volunteer at Wilmington Hospital and sang and performed with the Scarlet Ribbons of the Junior League, entertaining patients of the hospital. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed doing crosswords, playing bridge and having lunch with her friends. She also enjoyed hosting her traditional Christmas cocktail party on a bi-annual basis. In her later years, she loved traveling with her family and spending time with her grandchildren, playing at the beach or baking cookies with them.
She and Herb had a condo in Stratton, Vermont, where they entertained family and friends; skiing in the winter and playing golf and travelling through beautiful Vermont in the spring, summer and fall. Nancy and Herb travelled the globe over the years, visiting over 50 countries and territories.
She is survived by her husband, Herb, of 67 years, her daughter Kimberly Trouin and her son-in-law Franck Trouin of Burke, Virginia and her grandchildren, Alex and Brianna.
The family would like to thank Genet and the other caregivers of Nurturing Angels Home Care for their loving care of Nancy over the past two years.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, Delaware, where Nancy was a longtime member, or to a charity of your choice.
