Matthew J. “Marty” Giordano

Matthew J. Giordano, “Marty” 77 passed away Wednesday, January 25th, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital.

Marty was born in 1939 in Wilmington DE to Alphonse and Martha Giordano. He graduated from Wilmington High School and then married Joyce Ramsey, his high school sweetheart, in 1958. After 57 years of marriage, he loved telling people, “they tried to tell us we’re too young” but together they would bring three devoted children, seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild into this world.

To Marty, family was everything and nothing else really mattered. Although he became an accomplished hair stylist, owner, and operator of All About Hair for over 45 years, worked side by side with his brother (partner) sister, and youngest son, he truly believed that the unity of his family was the foundation of his success and he lived that mantra throughout his life. He even won a couple of hole in one golf tournament awards which was his second love after family! However, anyone that truly knew Marty, knew his greatest joy was to make people laugh. It was a gift to all those all who met him and a legacy that none will forget. His family would like to also thank the many clients that have supported Marty throughout the years.

Marty is survived by his three children; daughter, Laurie and her husband Joseph DeLucia, his two sons, Matthew Jr. and Christopher Giordano, his four siblings, Dr. Lawrence Giordano, Christine Dematteo, Phillip Giordano, and Marcia Bishop, his seven grandchildren, Matthew III, Nicholas, Gregory, Ryan, and Brandon Giordano, Alaina, and Natalie DeLucia, niece, Gina Martinez, and great granddaughter, Ava Pohlman.

Although we will forever grieve the loss of our father, grandfather, uncle and best friend, he wanted everyone to know that he lead his life just like Frank Sinatra, ” I did it my way.”
