Mary Lou Emery

Mary Lou Emery, of the Country House in Wilmington, DE passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020 at the age of 81.

 

Mary Lou was born in 1938 in Somerville, NJ.  She was one of three children of the late Stanley H. Wilcox and Ethel Dymock Wilcox.  She is survived by the love of her life for over for over 62 years, Ardie Emery.  She is also survived by son David (Karen) Emery, daughter Linda (Dean) Manson, grandchildren Michael and Katie Emery and Grace and Sarah Manson, niece Lisa (Dan) Diehl, nephew Stan (Kim) Wilcox, sister-in-law Laurie Wilcox, sister-in-law Jan Emery and her husband Al Barney, nieces Alice (Tim) Goodman, Janice Emery and Jill Emery, and nephews Ray (Tammy) Emery, Bob (Candy) Emery, Bill (Pam) Emery, and John (Laurie) Emery.  She is predeceased by her brothers Stanley and Steve Wilcox, brothers-in-law Ray and Bill Emery and sister-in-law Claire Emery.

 

Mary Lou graduated from Somerville High School in 1956 and completed her associate degree from Centenary College in 1958.  She worked at RCA and Bethlehem Steel before marrying Ardie in 1961.  Mary Lou was a loyal friend and a devoted mother raising David and Linda before returning to the workplace in 1981 as Night School Administrator for the Brandywine School District.  She enjoyed traveling, going to Lehigh football games, spending time with her family at Ocean City, NJ, caring for her family members, and playing bridge with her girlfriends.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Centenary University, 400 Jefferson Street, Hackettstown, NJ 07840, in memory of Mary Lou Wilcox Emery.

Funeral Services

Viewing at Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, on Friday, March 6, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Service at the Country House, 4830 Kennett Pike, from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 7, 2020.

    Dear Ardie and all the family. I was so surprised to hear of Marylou's passing! I never got your new address and phone number after you moved from Wilmington. I am truly sorry that we lost touch right when MaryLou was so very I'll. I had changed internet service and also had a different email address since last chatting with MaryLou, so the connection was missing. My condolences go out to the whole family.
