Margaret Ann McCausland Sloan

Margaret Ann McCausland Sloan, of Rehoboth Beach, DE and Longboat Key, FL, died peacefully on November 1, 2023 at the age of 84.

Peggy, as she was known, was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary McCausland; her brother Edward; her husband Louis Sloan; and her stepson Stuart Sloan.  She is survived by her son, Jon Mark Eldredge, and his wife Melissa Grace, of Middletown, DE; granddaughter Mallory Grace and grandson Matthew Jacob; her brother James McCausland of Wilmington, DE; two stepchildren, Donna Sloan Burick of Greensboro, NC, and Robin Sloan Densten of Providence, RI; and step grandchildren David Sloan Burick, Jordan Sloan Burick, and Hannah Sloan Densten.

Peggy had a caring heart and an optimistic attitude.  She saw the good in people and was quick to point it out.  She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, and a good friend.  She loved to entertain, travel, play tennis and golf, read, complete puzzles and word games, and especially to share time with her family and friends.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her two grandchildren, who were her greatest joy.

She graduated from Goldey-Beacom School of Business in 1958, worked as a legal secretary for many years, and later owned and operated her own business.  She and her husband retired to Rehoboth in 1995 where they spent their summer months, and resided in Longboat Key, Florida for the winter.  They also traveled extensively for many years, visiting every state in the United States and every continent except Antarctica.  She was an active member of the Longboat Island Chapel in Longboat Key, and she enjoyed reading with elementary school children in Sarasota.  Peggy also did volunteer work in Rehoboth through the Rehoboth Library and All Saints Thrift Shop.
