Louise Little passed away on November 12, 2024 at Christiana Care Hospital in Newark, Delaware. Louise was born in 1935 to Henry and Myrtle (Delameter) Little, of DeLancey, New York. Her parents predeceased her as did her sister, Beula Caroline Loudermilk and brothers Erwin and Fred. She is survived by many dear nieces and nephews and by her longtime housemate, Arlette Rasmussen.
Louise was born in DeLancey, NY where the foundation of her education started in a one-room schoolhouse and graduated from high school at Delaware Academy in Delhi, NY. She completed undergraduate work at State University of New York in Oneonta, NY and continued her education in food and nutrition, receiving Master of Science degree from Cornell University and her doctorate from University of Wisconsin in Madison.
Dr. Little was a faculty member in Nutrition at the University of Delaware for 32 years and was honored by receiving the Excellence in Teaching Award. She was active professionally and was recognized with the Medallion Award from the American Dietetic Association for significant contributions to the profession of dietetics, notably in the state and national legislative arena.
Louise’s interests included genealogy, classical music, current events, photography and worldwide travel. She moved to Ware Presbyterian Village in Oxford, PA in 2016 and served as president of the Independent Living Residents Association.
As an active member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Kemblesville, PA, she founded the English as Second Language program and served on the Missions committee.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the church on Saturday, November 30 at 11 AM, followed by a hot lunch. Visitation begins at 10 AM. The service will be livestreamed at www.cornerstonepca.com .
In place of flowers, contributions may be submitted to Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, 109 Gypsy Hill Road, Landenberg, PA 19350.
