Louis Bachman, Jr.

Louis Bachman, Jr. (Lou) age 70 of Hockessin, Delaware died suddenly on October 14, 2017.

Lou was the son of the late Louis Bachman, Sr. and Martha Bachman of Hockessin. He was in a loving relationship and marriage to Sally Humphrey Bachman for 55 years.

Lou attended Brandywine Springs Junior High and graduated from John Dickinson High School in 1965. After high school he attended the University of Virginia.

Lou was a man of many interests. He enjoyed a diverse career path working for Webster’s Men’s Clothes, American Van and Storage and All Metals Fabricators before starting a satisfying career in real estate sales and management for Patterson Schwartz in 1980 where he stayed until he retired.

Lou’s main interests after retirement were gardening, cooking, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren. Every summer he maintained a classic large home garden producing pounds of heirloom tomatoes, flowers and vegetables. In recent years, he cared for his five beautiful grandchildren with love and dedication. He was a well respected home chef creating delicious meals for family and large gatherings of friends.

Lou is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sally Humphrey Bachman; son, Jonathan Bachman; daughter, Jennifer Bachman Lopez (Luis); five grandchildren, Samantha Kate
Bachman, Emma G. Bachman, Emilio Lopez, Louis Jade Lopez and Francisco Lopez; sister, Rebecca Bachman Miles of Salisbury, MD; and two brothers, Kurt Bachman of Iowa and Karl Bachman of Wilmington. He is also survived by numerous first cousins with whom he was very close.

A special thanks to the ICU staff at Christiana Hospital for their outstanding, compassionate care and service.

That's my grandpa Lou, I love him so much. I'm 11 years old, I don't have much memories with him, because I was 4 years old. I have a memory were I was at his house and I got stung by a bee. So he took my inside and put my finger in a cold glass of water. It felt way better after. I miss him so much😢
