Louanne Stinson

Louanne Stinson, 86, of Hockessin, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 24, 2025.

Louanne was born in 1938, to the late John and Lucille Steckbeck in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Her daddy lovingly nicknamed her Fuzz and they enjoyed numerous trips to the market on Saturdays.  Louanne graduated from Lebanon Catholic High School in 1956 where she was most studious, a class officer, and she played basketball.  She graduated from Goldey-Beacom College and was employed by DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware, before meeting and marrying her husband, John Ralph Stinson on April 4,1959.

Louanne’s life was a testament to dedication, love, and faith. Her greatest joy was being a homemaker and mother. She could often be found in the kitchen preparing delicious home cooked meals for her family.  Everyone always looked forward to her holiday dinners and homemade desserts.  Louanne also loved gardening, she enjoyed summers at the beach, and traveling on religious pilgrimages with her friends.  Louanne was a devout Roman Catholic.  She was a eucharistic minister and active in various religious organizations including Legion of Mary, Sages, Lazarus Ministry, Divine Will, and the Ladies Guild at St. Mary of the Assumption Church.

She will be remembered as a beautiful and loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many.

She is survived by her five children Randy Stinson (Summer), Sharon Mangesian, Christopher “Sunshine” Stinson (Terri), Matthew Stinson (Elizabeth), and Karin Cook (Scott), her eight grandchildren Brent Stinson (Heather), Laura Almeda (Steve), Angela Mullen (Joe), Solana Ruarke (Zachary), Katharine Shook (Grady), Jessica Stinson, Charles Stinson, and Mark Medori Jr., and her six great grandchildren Lucas and Dylan Stinson, Tommy and Jake Almeda, Beau and Evelyn Mullen. She is also survived by her brothers Joseph Steckbeck (Rose Anne) of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, and John Steckbeck (Louise) of Marble Falls, Texas, and their children.

She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, John Ralph Stinson, and her brother Andrew “Skip” Steckbeck (Mary Jane) of Lexington, Kentucky.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Charlotte, Johannie, Nilda, Maria (“Noni”), and Lauren for their compassion, dedication, care, and support.

Sharon lit a candle and writes,
Mom is a " beautiful light" and her stunning blue eyes always lightened my heart. The timing of her passing especially during the Lord's Passion is such a blessing. Sometimes Our cross gets heavy but even in the face of false condemnation He, Our Lord Shines HIS light. As in PSALM 7 And PSALM 35 and justice by Our Lord was Final.. who carried HIS cross. I know too that from where you are you know " everything "you can help them more because You believe too that " we are the clay and HE is the potter " You have been Greatly missed but certainly blessed. Thank you for always teaching me to stay strong and humbled and In the Face of God. I always send you roses from the heavenly garden " as per St Therese. But now you have them first hand and Mary's garden right there with you. I even started painting again. Thank you Mommy for saying all the right things about life in loving. Gods grace and blessings. Xoxox Sharon Praying for PEACE in all families around the globe.
