Karen Geuting Cianci

Karen Geuting Cianci passed away unexpectedly on December 17, 2023 in Myrtle Beach,South Carolina.

Karen was born in Chestnut Hill, PA., in 1955, daughter of the late Robert A, and Kathleen R. Geuting of Green Acres, Wilmington, DE. She is preceded in death by her oldest brother Robert A. Geuting Jr of Mountain View, CA. She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Nicola Cianci of Myrtle Beach, SC, her older brothers Henry Geuting (Mary Jean) of Newark, DE., John Geuting of Wilmington, DE, two nephews, Taylor Geuting (Kellie) of Cocoa FL, Garrett Geuting of Newark, DE, and a niece,Kelsey Elam-Geuting (Jordan) of Independence, OR. Her family also extended to many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins of the Jones family of Chestnut Hill, PA and the Burton family of Milford, DE. along with cousins Thomas Geuting of Herndon, VA. and Sister Patsy Geuting, RSCJ of Atherton, CA.

Karen, her husband Nick and faithful dog Emma-Jean, had recently relocated to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to fulfill a longtime dream of living close to sandy beaches and the ocean.

Karen was a resident for most of her life in Green Acres, Wilmington, DE, attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Elementary School in Liftwood, DE, completed her High School education in the first graduating class of St. Marks High School (1969-1973), and a graduate of the University of Delaware, (1977).

Karen managed the Meadowood Kindercare for several years, was creator and co-owner of the Perfect Cup Coffee Shops in Hockessin and Stanton, DE. and was long time Director of the Catering Department at Janssen’s Market in Greenville, DE. In her few spare moments, Karen was also a very active volunteer at The Delaware Children’s Theatre in Wilmington, DE.

She was an extremely hard working, caring individual, putting everything she had into whatever she was doing or involved with at the time. She loved her husband, her dog and her family.

Karen kept a beautiful flower garden in her backyard, and was always working on a home improvement project, many times she was hands on. She was a ‘master’ of Facebook Marketplace and an excellent Chef in the kitchen. She could make a fancy meal just by opening the cabinet and fridge and using whatever was on hand. We will miss her meals and fancy table settings along with her caring smile.

Paul and I were so very shocked and sorry to hear about Karen's sudden passing. We had recently just met her while she catered our nieces Baby shower at St Joseph on the Brandywine on a beautiful Spring day 2 short years ago. We had 3 meetings putting it all together plus she was there bright and early as she put her time and whole heart into it and it was a tremendous success. She spoke of her memories of growing up in Delaware it was almost like you knew her your whole life. She had already had the family home on the market and could not wait to move with Nick to South Carolina to be close to the water and beach. Even though we haven't met you Nick she spoke so very fondly of you and her family (parents) and your lives together. We all shall miss Karen's earthly presence but we know she will be now having the most beautiful garden in heaven. Rest now in peace. Love, Debi and Paul Thorson
