Joseph Penn Hudson, 93, of Wilmington, Delaware, departed this world peacefully on Friday, January 20, 2017.
Penn was born in Chester, PA the first son of Joseph J. and Gladys E. Hudson. He is predeceased by his brother Charles D. Hudson and his sister Katherine H. Anderson. Penn was a lifelong Claymonter who maintained those connections as a charter member of the ROMEO club. He graduated from Claymont High School in 1941. A WWII vet of the Army Air Force he was also active for many years in the 76th Troop Squadron annual gatherings. He and his wife were life long members of Holy Rosary Church in Claymont.
After a short tenure in masonry during which he personally built their first two homes, he had a long and successful career as a small business owner. He spent his retirement years enjoying his family, friends, playing golf, and spreading the word that “every day is a holiday”. Those who knew him remember a man who always had a smile on his face and a good word for everyone.
Penn is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jeanette E. Hudson, his son, Joseph Penn II and his daughter, Debra Towe (Don). His grandchildren; Sarah E. Hudson of Boston, Joseph P. Hudson III of Ft. Lauderdale, Kendall Hudson Towe of Knoxville and Caitlin Hudson Towe of Wilmington.
