John Douglas Thompson, Sr.

John “Doug” Thompson Sr., age 81, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away on October 11th, 2023 at Christiana Care Hospital with his wife and two sons by his side.

After 37 years as a senior technologist for Hercules, Doug enjoyed his retirement years as an avid bass fisherman and spending time with his grandchildren and friends. He will be remembered for his notable personality; especially, his unending, dry sense of humor that continued to spread joy and laughter wherever he went. Further, his kindness and compassion for others never went unnoticed and was appreciated by all who met him. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Doug is predeceased by his parents, Royall and Blanche Thompson, and sister, Barbara Croll. He is survived by his beloved wife, Loretta (Treskowski) Thompson; his sons, John Thompson Jr. (Nicole) and Robert Thompson (Kathy); and his grandchildren, Abbey Lyon (Michael), Nicholas Thompson, Parker Thompson, Nick Thompson, and Robert Lanning. He is also survived by his brother, Royall Thompson (Winifred), sister-in-law, Dorothy Davis, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services

A private service and burial will be held on October 26th, 2023.
