Joanne L. Bodwell

Joanne L. Bodwell, age 89, of Glen Mills, PA, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021.

Born in Niagara Falls, NY in 1932, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Mabel B. Liersch. Joanne was a registered nurse and worked at the Sun Oil Company in PA and the Delaware Curative Workshop. She has been a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church since 1968 and was a member of the choir, Good News Gals and the Brandywiners. She enjoyed singing, dancing, playing the piano and traveling through Europe and the United States. She was married to her husband Robert C. Bodwell for 63 years, who predeceased her in 2020.

Joanne is survived by her son James and his wife Heather (Gregory), their children Rebecca and Gregory, daughter Susan and her husband Bruce Abbott, their children Daniel and Kelly, daughter Nancy and her husband Thomas Thomas, their children Steven, Jessica and Julie and her sister Nancy Liersch Brown. She had 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association.

I am so sorry for Joanne’s passing. She was a longtime member of Aldersgate choir with me, and a regular in our post-dance exercise lunch bunch. She was talented and energetic in all the song and dance groups in which she participated. I also found her personality so sweet - She was unassuming, gracious and cheerful. I carry many wonderful memories of her and hope that all your family do also, despite the difficulties of her last few years.
