Joann Dorothy Hasse

Joann Dorothy (O’Connor) Hasse, age 89, of Hockessin, Delaware passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023 in Wilmington, Delaware.

Joann was born in Janesville, WI to the late Joseph and Dorothy O’Connor. Before she was married, Joann was trained and became a Registered Nurse. While raising a family was her primary vocation, she found time to serve her community notably as President of the League of Women Voters of Delaware for many years, and as a board member of the Delaware Health Information Network.  She was an ardent support of public libraries and New Castle Library Friend.  Joann was a 60+ year member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard in Wilmington.

Joann was a lover of the outdoors including backpacking and summiting multiple 14teeners in   Colorado.  Joann loved gardening and wildflowers, was an avid reader, sports fan, knitter of mittens for charity, and above all a loving wife and mother and doting grandmother. She will be greatly missed.

Joann is survived by husband of 67 years Ronald A. Hasse; surviving sons Robert, Thomas and David; four grandchildren; brother James O’Connor and sisters Linda O’Connor-Levy and Maribeth O’Connor Hurt; daughter’s-in-law Kathryn Hasse and Nancy Hasse; and 13 nieces and nephews.   She is preceded in death by her son James and her sister Susan O’Connor.

A Memorial Service and reception will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Cokesbury Chapel, Cokesbury Village, 726 Loveville Rd, Hockessin, DE 19707.
