Our family lost a wonderful matriarch, Joan M. Flynn, of Wilmington, DE. Our dear, sweet, funny, intelligent, caring and young-at-heart mother, grandmother, friend, mentor and advice-giver, left us on Thursday evening July 22, 2021. It was sudden and a shock to everyone. We will all miss her very much. 89 amazing years!
Born in Philadelphia, Joan was the daughter of James and Anna McClure Clancy. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband, William R. Flynn and her four siblings, James, Thomas and William Clancy and Carol Clancy Reynolds.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Flynn of Lewes, DE, Diane Flynn of Virginia and Maureen Flynn of Wilmington; grandchldren, Christopher Cline (Jacqui), Lauren Carden (Devon), Kevin Broderick, and Aidan and Declan Brown; great-grandchildren, Kaylyn, Connor and Christian Cline, and Kale Carden; as well as family friend Andrew Brennan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:30 am on Saturday August 14, 2021 at the Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE., where friends and family may visit from 10:30 to 11:30 am. Interment will follow the service at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joan’s memory may be sent to Meals on Wheels, 100 West 10th Street, #207, Wilmington, DE 19801.
