Joan A. McCormack

Joan Alaine Pelizzoni McCormack, 84, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away peacefully at Kentmere Nursing Home on August 17, 2023.

Joan was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania to the late Alvin and Veronica (Bonnie) Pelizzoni. Joan was a graduate of Allentown High School and the Holy Name School of Nursing in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. Joan was the school nurse at the Calais School in Whippany, New Jersey for many years.

Upon retirement she enjoyed spending time at the beach with her family. Joan is survived by her two children Amy (Kevin) Johnson, Susan (Brian) Lopez and two grandchildren Matthew and Sarah Johnson.

The family is grateful for the compassionate care Joan received from the Harbor Chase memory care and Kentmere Nursing Home staff.

Funeral Services

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 24 from 10:00-11:00 am at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 7 Sharpley Road, Wilmington, Delaware followed by a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter, 339 Market Street, Suite 250 Philadelphia, PA 19106 or Faithful Friends Animal Shelter, 165 Airport Road, New Castle, DE 19720.
