Jasper “Jack” Elwood Cole

Jasper “Jack” Elwood Cole, 92, of Newark, Delaware and formerly of Lexington, Kentucky, died at Christiana Hospital on November 21, 2017.

 

Born and raised in Kentucky, Jack earned his Master’s degree from the University of Kentucky. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He worked as an occupational therapist for the Veterans Administration in Perryville, MD. After retirement, Jack worked for Kirk’s Florist for many years. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Above all, he will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

 

Jack is predeceased by his spouses, Vivian Cole and Mary Stawikey. He is survived by his children, Lisa Vandercook, Eric Cole, Tracey Stawikey, Robin Johnson (Mike) and Wendy Cahill (Paul); grandchildren, Patrick Cahill, Riley Cahill and Christian Mullins; many siblings, cousins and friends.

 

A Memorial Service will be held at CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin on Monday November 27, 2017 at 2:00 pm where friends may visit from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.

    I remember us at Perry Point sneaking down to the Old Mill, and hiding from you dad if he was out in the gardens. We really did have a charmed childhood living there. That was over 50 years ago now but I can still see our 12 year old selves on our bikes with the gum cards tacked to the spokes to make noise...I bet your dad really knew we were there and just played along...when you think of him think of him standing in the rose garden tending to them.
