Janice Elizabeth Iaconi, 93, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024 at Harbor Chase Memory Care with her loving family and care takers by her side.
Janice was born in May 1931 in Yorklyn, Delaware to the late Gertrude and Joseph DeStafney. She grew up on the family dairy farm, and in 1949, graduated from Conrad High School. She later attended classes at Goldie-Beacom College.
Janice began working for an insurance agency before moving on to working at Delaware Trust Bank in Hockessin. She continued at Delaware Trust for over 40 years before retiring from banking.
Janice married Cottie Iaconi, a marriage that lasted 55 years. They raised two children together. Janice enjoyed cooking, baking and hosting the holidays. She also enjoyed watching her favorite shows and sports, and reading her magazines and daily newspapers. She also loved shopping, spending time outside, and the annual Fourth of July Parade in Hockessin. Janice especially loved spending time with her family.
Janice was a devout Catholic and attended St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Hockessin, Delaware. She was also a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Janice is predeceased by her husband Cottie Iaconi, her daughter Kim Iaconi, brothers Joseph DeStafney, Chuck DeStafney and Francis DeStafney.
She is survived by her son Kevin Iaconi; daughter-in-law Pam Iaconi; grandchildren Melissa DeFlaviis (Dan), Kevin Iaconi, Jr. (Brittany), and Ryan Iaconi; great-grandchildren Caleb and Brielle DeFlaviis and Colton and Cameron Iaconi; sister Sandy Carpenter, brother-in-law Jim Carpenter, sister-in-law Johanna DeStafney, and sister-in-law Medra Iaconi as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 beginning at 11:00 AM at Chandler Funeral Home, 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Ashland.
