James “Jamie” Jamison passed away on November 30, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family, his devoted companion Cathy Ford, and his close friend George Brocklesby. He was 69 years old.
Jamie was predeceased by his father James Charles Jamison and his mother Helen Jean (Brittingham) Jamison.
Jamie is survived by his sons James “Jay” Jamison Jr. (Kerry) and Joe Jamison (Laura). He also leaves his grandchildren Kaylie, Bailey, Joey, Kai, Danni, Billy, & Charlie to cherish his memory.
Jamie was interested early-on about the Fire Service and Fire Safety. In his teen years, Jamie became a member of Claymont Fire Company where many lifelong friendships were formed and a deeper understanding of what fire does was gained. All of this resulted in Jamie becoming a Loss Control and Safety Engineer where his knowledge was plied in the field correcting catastrophic problems in mercantile, office, and apartment buildings.
Jamie enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren, whom he deeply loved. He made sure he was at every special event and holiday to celebrate and share their joy with them.
Jamie also loved spending time outdoors. His backyard was his happy place and he made it a haven for many foxes, deer, rabbits, birds, and even honeybees to seek food, water, and companionship. His bond with animals of nature was like no other.
In his community, Jamie was a unique character, giving people a smile on their face and a helping hand when needed. In the Town of Arden, Jamie was an almost daily fixture, especially at the Gild Hall, where he helped with maintenance and hall events. Many of the town’s residents will dearly miss him.
If you plan to attend, please feel free to rock a tie-dye t-shirt and a pair of Converse All-Stars (Chuck Taylors) if you have them.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations to Claymont Fire Company, 3223 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703.
