Jacqueline “Jackie” Rizzo

Jackie Rizzo passed away on March 9, 2025 at the age of 95 after a lengthy illness and a long fulfilling life.

Born in Wilmington, Delaware to the late Harold and Helen (Holmes) Porter in 1929 (the Depression would occur 26 days later).

Jackie attended Brown Vocational where she was named Miss Valentine of 1945. An honor she never let us forget.

Upon leaving school Jackie had a variety of jobs before settling on her life’s calling as a telephone operator for the Bell Telephone Co. working there until her retirement circa 1985-86.

She was predeceased by her sisters Lora Porter, Helen Davis and Joanne Barber.

Sister in law Joan (Julian)Rizzo and brother in law Bill Barber.Together with many nieces and nephews.

Jackie enjoyed being taken to the casinos by her daughter and granddaughter to spend her children’s inheritance. She gave you a starter $50 if you took her.

We’d like to give special thanks to her friend and caregiver for the last two years Stephanie Kenny. Also Yvonne Dwyer of Visiting Angels and Delaware Hospice.
