Jacqueline Anne (Mataleno) Kimball, 87, passed peacefully into eternal life on April 7, 2022, at Hillside Center, with dear friend Doris Miller at her side.
Born in Wilmington at Saint Francis Hospital in 1934, she was the daughter of the late Annunziatta delGrosso and Luigi Mataleno, and the wife of the late Gary W. Kimball. Jacquie was predeceased by her sisters Justine Mataleno-Clerc, Grace Marie Mataleno, both of Wilmington and Joann Skidmore, of Columbus, OH. She is survived by her sister Angela Scanzello of Elkins Park, PA, 8 nieces and nephews, 8 great nieces and nephews, 2 great-great nieces and many friends and neighbors.
Jacquie attended Mount Pleasant High School in Bellefonte, DE. She worked in her father’s luncheonette on West Fourth Street prior to her marriage and also worked for Winterthur Museum and Gardens. Jacquie was a member of Saint Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church. She loved her volunteer work at the annual Italian Festival where she loved to sing and dance.
On December 9, 2004, Jacquie was recognized by Wilmington’s City Council for her years of dedicated service to the Italian-American community, the Little Italy Neighborhood Association and for her outstanding leadership in coordinating the highly successful Little Italy Day.
A memorial service and interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2022, at Cathedral Cemetery, Main Chapel, 2400 Lancaster Avenue, Wilmington, DE.
