Jack Fuller, 96, of West Grove, Pennsylvania died on December 17, 2019. Born in Fort Lewis, Washington of a military family, Jack grew up all over the world. This contributed to his sense of adventure and his view of change and new places as opportunities. His gratitude for life inspires his large circle of family and friends.
Jack graduated from Shattuck Military Preparatory School. In 1943, he left Dickinson and joined the army as a buck private and went overseas to Hawaii where he served as an instructor retraining American soldiers who had been imprisoned for various crimes. They were offered an honorable discharge if they served in combat. Jack was sent back to Fort Benning for Officer Candidate School. He went overseas again in August 1945. He obtained his Bachelor of Science from Dickinson College after serving as a First Lieutenant in the 8th Cavalry on occupation duty in Tokyo at the end of World War II. He continued his postgraduate studies in high polymer chemistry at the University of Delaware. Jack served on the Board of Trustees of Shattuck St. Mary’s School, Faribault, Minnesota.
He began his career in the early plastics industry, eventually rising to be President of the Society of Plastics Engineers. He founded Polymer Machinery Corporation importing, manufacturing, and selling plastics molding machinery. In addition, he started Molding Systems Inc. which developed methods for grinding up and reusing recycled plastics.
Jack married his college sweetheart Nancy Tatnall in 1945. Together they had five children, Jack, Margaret, Pamela, Joellen, and Charlotte. He is survived by his wife, five children and seven grandchildren. Jack’s dreams led us to many adventures, which made us who we are.
