Herman J. DiLuchio

Herman J. DiLuchio left this life on June 26, 2018 while in the care of Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis Hospital. He was a devoted Catholic which gave him peace during his struggle with congestive heart failure.

Herman was born to the late Candida (Zelo) DiLuchio and Michael DiLuchio. He had one brother, the late Anthony DiLuchio aka Donald Michael Paterson. Herman was born on February 18, 1930 in Wilmington, Delaware and remained a resident of Delaware his entire life. Despite losing his right hand at age nine in his grandfather’s meat company on Market Street in Wilmington, he worked many years in small appliance repair. Later in life, he managed his family’s apartment building on Washington Street, Wilmington.

He was a long time member of St. Mary Magdalen Roman Catholic Church and Choir, Bishop Curtis Counsel, Bishop Fitzmaurice Assembly and was a 4th Degree Sir Knight of the Knights of Columbus. Herman was active for many years in the Knights of Columbus color guard where he participated in many local events wearing his colorful regalia. Herman proudly displayed his award as Knight of the Year in the center of his home. In support of his Catholic faith, Herman left the majority of his estate to fund elementary catholic school scholarships.

He is survived by many cousins and friends.

Flowers and donations are gratefully declined, but prayers are gladly accepted.

I was so sorry to hear about Herman. He was always such a kind person. I can remember visiting his TV repair shop. We had something in common since I was into engineering. I will miss him. I am getting a mass card for Herman.
