Henri V. du Pont

Sunday, the 7th of April 2024, Henri V. du Pont, age 58, our Darling, dad, friend, brother, cousin and uncle left us peacefully in the comfort of his home in Greenville, Delaware.

Henri was a kind and gentle soul, always optimistic, a dreamer who always had new ideas.

He loved his 3 children immensely and was an amazing father. He also was a wonderful and kind husband who always believed in his wife. His love for music was well known, his favorite bands were the Grateful Dead and Phish, and he would often go to concerts with his buddies.

He loved to sail and dreamed of owning a sailboat and travelling around the world.

Henri was loved by his many friends that he met throughout the years, including those he met at Tatnall, the Hill School, the Deck school and later on at the University of Delaware.

Throughout his life Henri had many endeavors, his love for technology and new discoveries were his passions.

He was very knowledgeable in Astronomy and was looking forward to the next solar eclipse.

Henri is survived by his wife, Dina du Pont, his sons; Louis M. V. du Pont, Victor H. du Pont, and Felix L. du Pont, his sisters; Cathy F. Schlaeppi, M. A. Caroline du Pont and Sophie M. du Pont, his brothers; Chris H. Schneider and Henry E.I. du Pont II. He is preceded in death by his father, Henry E.I. du Pont, his mother, Martha A. C. du Pont and his brother, W. Garey Schneider.

Bon Vent Darling Henri, we love you.

I first reached met Henri about six years ago. We stayed in touch via Facebook over the years. We would chat about different technology, history in Wilmington and various other topics. I had the pleasure and opportunity to speak to Henry in person last year. He was such a joy to speak with on a number of things. We chatted for hours. What a great thinker and learner! I am saddened to hear of his passing. I know he cared deeply for his wife and children. I hope you all keep the many memories you have close in these tough times. I send prayers of strength and comfort to your family and friends.

From the Old Landing beach house , to the Cabin on the farm , my bachelor party in AC , my wedding at Uncle Pete’s, we always took time to speak of real issues going on in the world around us . Crazy how a “surf -rat”from Dewey Beach and Henri “with an I” DuPont became good buddies and shared ideas , opposite political views , and quality beers and flowers! I will hope to see you on the other side , we can eat a pound of Turkish pistachios, sip a 18 yr Macallan, pull one, and play a round of Swin. Rest in Peace my friend , gone for now but never forgotten! Cheers💕
