Gladys Lorditch

“Let no one come to you without leaving better and happier” – Mother Teresa

Gladys Lorditch, 92, died peacefully after a nine-day illness on Friday, July 20, 2018 with her daughter Heidi by her side. She was truly the definition of beauty on the inside and out. She led her life with kindness, grace, and love. She will be remembered forever for her positive attitude and sunny disposition.

Gladys was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Johnstown High School and attended Cambria Rowe Business College. She began her career at Bonner Vawter Fanform Company in Cleveland, Ohio. She later returned to her hometown and was introduced to the love of her life Robert Lorditch and they later married in 1951 and moved to the Philadelphia area. This led her to a thirty-year career at Fidelity bank staring as a Teller and working her way up to a Senior Banking Manager until her retirement in 1984. She was a working Mom before her time.

She loved playing bridge and was a master floral arranger that shared her talent with many. She enjoyed spending time with her cherished friends, and she was always eager to lend a helping hand with no strings attached. She was everybody’s best friend. She enjoyed all kinds of music, especially the Big Bands. She also enjoyed solving her daily crossword puzzles.

Gladys devoted her life to caring for her family. She was a caregiver to many family members.

She delighted in her community involvement as a volunteer at the Episcopal Church Home and Compassionate Care Hospice.

Her true passion was doing anything and everything with her two grandchildren, Keegan and Kyle. Because of that, she was able to create a lifetime of loving memories.

Gladys was predeceased by her parents, James and Florence Stutzman, her sister Emily, and her husband Bud whom she was married to for 42 years upon his death. She leaves behind her loving daughter and son-in-law Heidi (Gordon) McGregor. Her life is also celebrated with deep gratitude by her grandchildren: Keegan (Brittany) and Kyle.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Meals on Wheels of Chester County, Inc., 404 Willowbrook Lane, West Chester, PA 19382.
