Meadows, with whom she enjoyed a wonderful marriage for over 55 years. Faye was the loving mother of Steven (Dawna) Meadows of Newark, DE, Michelle Meadows of Huntington, WV, and Jonathan (Dusty) Meadows of Bear, DE. She was the devoted grandmother of Michael Wilson of Huntington, WV, Kelsea Meadows of Newark, DE, Hayley (Dan) Sweetser of Elkton, MD, Hunter Meadows of Newark, DE, and Jonathan Meadows & Matthew Meadows of Bear, DE, and the great-grandmother of Kamryn Dial of Huntington, WV. Faye is survived by her brother John (Sally) Hatfield of Rancho Cucamonga, CA and her sister Brenda Ellis of Proctorville, OH. She also had many special nieces and nephews. Faye was preceded in death by her parents Scott and Gatha Hatfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Gatha Ashley Brooke Dial.
Faye grew up in Baileysville and Itmann, West Virginia. She was a direct descendant of Devil Anse Hatfield, who was the head of the Hatfield family famous for the Hatfield-McCoy feud. Faye was a graduate of Mullens High School in Mullens, WV, where she played clarinet in the marching band. She attended Concord College and obtained an Associate Degree at Beckley College, WV. She also attended Marshall University in Huntington, WV, where her husband was once a professor and from which her two sons graduated.
As a young woman, Faye moved to Beckley, WV, where she was a receptionist at Appalachian Regional Hospital. At that time, she met her soon-to-be husband Steve Meadows. Later, she achieved her licensure in Life and Health insurance and served as an Office Manager with Steve’s State Farm Insurance agency.
Faye had many artistic talents: Wood Carving, Ceramics, Porcelain, Quilting, Sewing, Wood Turning, and Crafting. She made many life-long friends whom she loved dearly in her sewing group and her many painting & carving classes. Faye was an excellent cook as well with many specialties such as her cheese souffle and New Year’s egg rolls, which delighted her family. While art and cooking were her passions, her greatest joy was spending time with her family on vacations, holidays, Bethany beach weekends, and cookouts.
Faye was a wonderful wife, loving mother, and cherished Mamaw, who was always quick to help or provide love, support, or guidance. She was the biggest cheerleader of her children and grandchildren, whom she loved without bounds and supported in everything they did.
The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to a special niece, Michele Curtis, who was an angel in Faye’s and their lives in these last few weeks.
Condolences
