    Carol Hornung Sadowski writes,
To the Schmitt Family: It was a surprise to see Fred's passing. I worked with Fred for many years at Hercules. Fred was always a gentleman and I recall his starting the chess club at lunchtime in our department as well as his teaching me how to play chess. He will be missed.

    Bob Cooper writes,
To Julie and the Schmitt family, We wish to convey our condolences over Fred's passing. As his roommate at Hill he always tried to keep me straight and usually did. I am so reminded of how parallel our lives have been, his interests, and how he served the church and his Lord. Since we moved to CT and now to FL we unfortunately lost contact, but our paths were somewhat the same. I am an ordained Ruling Elder in the PCA, and commissioner to 6 General Assemblies and teach adult classes, have my share of master points in duplicate bridge, continue in financial investments (I did miss the investment club we had in DE), and keep busy doing some tax work. Like you, Priscilla and I have traveled extensively, mostly by the cruising and a Holy Land tour and have a family that occupies our time. I feel guilty not keeping up and wish you and the family the best as you continue grieve the loss of such a good husband, father and friend. It is a comfort to know he is in the hands of our loving Savior. Bob & Priscilla Cooper
