Frank “Rogers” Jones Jr.

Frank “Rogers” Jones Jr., age 88, of Lewes, DE, formerly of Norton, VA died on February 20th at his home with his family by his side.

Rogers graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Art degree in 1957. He was a member and president of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 – 1960 followed by four years in the Army reserves. Rogers worked for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Virginia for fourteen years in provider services where he retired from in 1997. Rogers loved the Lewes Historical Society where he served several terms as president. He also was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Rehoboth Beach and Friends of Prime Hook Wildlife Refuge.

Rogers is survived by his wife Suzanne; his children Frank and Elizabeth; and his grandchildren Allison, Frank, Abigail, Lauren, and Stephen. He is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Thelma.

Funeral Services

Rogers donated his body to the University of Delaware’s Physical Therapy department. A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Peter’s church in Lewes, DE.

    We were roommates for the last two years of college at UVa, the last year sharing a room together on the lawn. A great guy who was easy to live with and we got along very well. Sad news to learn of his death. RIP dear friend.
