Ethel was my first love - 7th grade at Hoover Drive School in Rochester. We knew each other all through high school and I last met with her in 1963 on the University of Rochester campus. She was very lovely, gracious, and sweet. On occasion we played chess at her house (high school years) - I think she let me win at chess but could have won if she had desired it. I am sad at her passing but I am very grateful that I had known such a beautiful person as Ethel.

Ethel and I met while she worked at Eastman Kodak Company in the late 60's and early 70's. She was lovely, intelligent, and fun to be with. One memory I have is that she and I drove her small sports car to a local ski area for an evening of night skiing. Ethel had told me the car heater was not working. We had blankets and a windshield scraper to scrape the inside of the windshield. We also had to stop for me, as the passenger, to scrape the outside of the windshield. The skiing was fun and we warmed up in the lodge prior to returning home. It was a VERY cold ride home but we laughed about that memory for a long time. My thoughts are with you, Alp, and Ethel's friends and family, She was a very special woman.

I am so sorry to hear of Ethel's passing. I first knew Ethel as Catbird, a fellow peregrine falcon cam watcher. We eventually both became members of Bird Cams Around the World and then Facebook where I continued to be her internet bird buddy. We will all miss Catbird but know that she is soaring.
