Bethie Pyle, our beloved mother, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2024 at the young age of 69. She is survived by her five children; Natalie Hnatiuk (Steve), Rob Burrus, Stephanie Lehman (Roger), Laird Sellar, and Cynthia Sellar, her life partner Owen Sellar, her three grandchildren; Ashton, Beckett, and Hudson, her six siblings; Stephen Pyle (Maryanne), Marcia Welch, Robert Pyle (Francis), Sue Pyle, Eleanor Taylor, Carolie Pyle and many other close relatives and friends.
Bethie grew up in a large family surrounded by her six siblings in Greenville Delaware. She attended Tatnall School, Foxcroft boarding school, and received her Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of Denver in 1976.
Coming from a large family, she knew from a young age she wanted to be a mother herself. When she wasn’t being called Mom or Grammy, she was a passionate photographer, avid traveler, talented skier and nature enthusiast. She was always staying active playing golf, tennis and paddle ball. During the beautiful chaos of raising five children, she always found time for a little laugh along the way. Bethie dedicated her life to nurturing her children with boundless love and unwavering support. Her children, Natalie Hnatiuk (36), Rob Burrus (34), Stephanie Lehman (33), Laird Sellar (30), and Cynthia Sellar (28), were the center of her universe. She taught them to find joy in the simple moments, to marvel at the night sky, to seek solace by the sea and respect for the wonders of the world.
Bethie leaves behind a legacy of love and cheery memories. Her children, grandchildren, family, friends and loved ones will carry her spirit in their hearts, forever.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Christ Church Christiana Hundred, 505 E. Buck Road, Greenville, Delaware 19807, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory. For those attending, colorful clothing encouraged.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Alzheimer’s Association.
