Duane King Miller

Duane King Miller “Bud/Buddy” of Greenville, Delaware, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February, 28, 2018.  He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Nancy, Greenville DE, his son Duane and daughter-in-law Anne, Kennett Square, PA, his grandson, Jason, New York, NY, his granddaughter Haley, Arlington, VA, his grandson Scottie, Kennett Square, PA, his sister Elizabeth Young, Spartanburg, SC and cousin Jean McMaster, Wall, New Jersey. He is predeceased by his brother Henry Miller and sister Joan Hagan.

Duane was born to Henry Charles and Helen Marion (King) Miller of Riverdale, NY on March 1,1930.  He graduated in 1951 from New York University with a Bachelors of Arts in Economics and Finance before serving his country in the US Army as a First Lieutenant during the Korean War where he attained his Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge.   He began his business career after the war as a manager in the Shell Oil Company before moving on to Warner Chilcott, then a division of Warner Lambert, Morris Plains, NJ 1970-1972.  He served as President of the division from 1973-1977.  In 1978 Duane was hired by Revlon, Inc. and became Vice President of Revlon’s Health Care Group, Tuckahoe, NY and President of the Ethical, Proprietary and Vision Care Divisions until 1982.  In 1983 he was named President of Revlon’s Health Care Group and Executive Vice President of the Parent Company (1983-1992) as well as President of Revlon’s Health and Beauty Care and International Groups until he retired in 1992.

Duane sat on various boards of directors throughout his business career and was President of the American Marketing Association, NJ Chapter, a member of the Princeton Club of NY, and the Shriners Lodge of New Jersey.  He was an active supporter of many charities across the country, including Shriners Hospital for Children, Wounded Warriors Project, and the Salvation Army.  He loved spending his summers with his family at Bethany Beach, DE, dining out, walking the beach, playing beach and board games, watching movies and singing his own special rendition of “Let’s Go Fly A Kite.”  He also enjoyed reading, golf and spectator sports.

Despite all of Duane’s accomplishments, he will forever be known and remembered for his kindness, patience, great stories, sense of humor, and most of all, love for his family.  His family meant everything to him.  He had big shoulders for support and always had a comforting arm around the people he loved, an arm that will be felt forever.  It is this special love above all else that made him such a great man.  We will miss him dearly.
