Dr. Kirby Vaughn Scherer, Jr., age 82, of Hockessin, DE, formerly of Los Angeles, CA, and originally from Evansville, IN, passed away on February 15, 2018.
He was a graduate of Harvard University receiving his B.S. in 1958 and also received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1963.
Kirby was a research chemist and professor. He taught at the University of California Berkeley, University of Southern California, and worked at the DuPont Experimental Station.
He was a member of the Harvard Alumni Association, USC Faculty Association, member of the American Chemical Society, and a Sierra Club Member. He will be missed by family, friends, and colleagues.
He is predeceased by his wives Carol Larney Scherer and Ute Scherer. Survived by his first wife Dr. Libbe Hale, his children Annye Bone of San Francisco, CA, Nancy Connolly of Seattle, WA, Andrew Scherer of Burbank, CA, Peter Scherer of Los Angeles, CA, David Hoos of CA, Danica Hymen of CA, Jennifer Siegel of NM, Tommy Siegel of CO, and numerous grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held the morning of April 7, 2018 at 10:00AM at the United Methodist Church of Magnolia Park in Burbank, CA.
