Dr. Dipak David Shah

Dipak (David) Govindlal Shah passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017 after losing a difficult battle with cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pragna Shah; his two sons and daughters-in-law, Neil Shah & Anjana Patel and Luv Shah & Nina Manuel Shah; and one grandson, Zane Manuel Shah. He further leaves behind two brothers, Suryakant and Chaitanya Shah, and many friends and family.
Dipak was born in Ahmedabad, India, and moved to the United States to pursue his education, culminating in him being awarded a Ph.D. in Industrial Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee in 1977. However, not long after, he found his true passion in the hospitality industry, when he and Pragna purchased their first property in Delaware, on Concord Pike (Rt. 202), in 1978. Dipak and Pragna thereafter went on to build a successful hotel and retail real estate business. Dipak’s success was afforded to him by his optimism, humor, gregarious nature, and passionate & hands on approach – qualities that will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and Best Hospitality team members.

Dipak and Pragna were also involved in the founding of the Hindu Temple Association of Delaware, and remained active members of the Temple throughout Dipak’s life.
