Donald W. Edwards

Donald W. Edwards, age 91, passed away peacefully at Cokesbury Village in Hockessin, Delaware, on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

Born in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, Don graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1951. From there, he went on to pursue a B.S. and later an M.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1956.

During his career years, he worked as an engineer for DuPont. He worked in research and development in engineering for 37 years before retiring as an “engineering fellow” with 27 U.S. patents in his name.

In his retirement, Don was a member of the Academy of Lifelong Learning.

Donald is predeceased by his loving wife Nancy, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Don and Nancy were profound supporters of giving back and advocating for educational opportunities for young people. Together they founded the Donald W. & Nancy S. Edwards Charitable Fund Scholarship through Delaware Community Foundation, effectively providing a path to education for many students.

A graveside service to celebrate Donald’s life will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 11:00am at Lower Brandywine Cemetery in Greenville, DE.
