Diane G. Wallace, of Lakeland, Florida (formerly of Hockessin, DE and Wayne, PA) died peacefully on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at the age of 91. Born in Philadelphia to the late Martin Patrick Glynn and Genevieve Long Glynn, Mrs. Wallace attended Lower Merion High School and Harcum Junior College. She was a homemaker, and volunteered for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America as well as the Epilepsy Foundation. She enjoyed tennis and golf, as well as bridge and card games with friends.
Mrs. Wallace married Brenton G. Wallace, Jr. in 1950. They enjoyed almost 65 years together, raising 3 children in Bryn Mawr and Villanova, PA. Mr. & Mrs. Wallace were active members of the Union League of Philadelphia, Merion Cricket Club, Overbrook Country Club and Glen Hardie Country Club.
Predeceased by her husband Brent (in 2014); her son David Glynn Wallace (in 1982), and her beloved sister Gee (in 2006), Mrs. Wallace is survived by her brother Donald (Peggy); eldest son Brenton G. Wallace, III (Paula); daughter Genevieve Wallace-Roe (Theron); grandchildren Katy (Jamey), Jennifer (Chris) & Joshua (Kaylie), David & Hope; and great-grandchildren Howie & Barrett, Jayce, Mila & Jax.
Diane was especially close to her niece, Kimberly Mundy, who recently moved to Florida to be closer to her aunt. Diane had the privilege and joy of meeting Herb Scribner after she moved to Lakeland, and they enjoyed almost 3 years together – going out to dinner, music concerts and local events. Herb died suddenly just after Christmas Day, 2020.
We would especially like to thank the awesome team at Cornerstone Hospice who supported Mom over the past year: Rachael, Sherri, Jaila, Roberta and Jamie in particular. Contributions may be made in Diane’s memory to Cornerstone Hospice, 2140 East County Road 540A, Lakeland, FL 33813.
Condolences
