I was one Dana's friends in the "Newark Days". Decades have gone by for all of us from that period in life.... but what hasn't faded is the memory of Dana, being everybody's kid sister, who we'd all stand to protect, at anytime. At my age, I've lost quite a few people over the years, and it never gets easier. As I sit here with tears streaming down my face, I send you guys LOVE on your loss. Don't remember her for the dark times, or the passing, just look at that picture and remember that beautiful smile. Rest in peace, Dana... this big brother, misses you, girl. -C

My condolences to the Gil family during this time of loss. Dana and I grew up together and she had a hand in making me who I am as a person; she taught me friendship and loyalty, how to drive, ride a horse, dive into an Olympic size pool, and how to cook. She would mother me when I needed to be checked, and she had an infectious sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.

My condolences to her family. I am a friend of Dana’s. She actually felt more like part of the family. She was such an amazing person. Her heart was huge. I still remember the first time we met and she opened her doors to my kids and I. She always put others before her own needs. She was an amazing listener and always gave honest advise without sugar coating it! I loved that about her. I will cherish every memory. May God bless her that she has found peace. Love and miss you Dana, ❤️Dawn

My heart and prayers go out to Danas family. I first met Dana in her caretaker role. The love and care she showed my mother was amazing. From these encounters we became quick friends then sisters. She showed so much love and encouragement when I needed it most. Her voice will be in my head forever, giving me her advise and opinions. She helped me become a better me and for this I will be forever thankful, Planning a trip or a family event her voice will be the strongest. What a planner she was down to the littlest detail. She proclaimed herself as a holiday hater but would oversee our holiday preparations and that thru the years actually changed to where she enjoyed the process. My husband , our dogs or the kids as she say , and I will truly miss her. And whenever in doubt I will say to myself What would Dana say, We hope that she has now found her peace. Love yah Sis!

I was blessed to have know Dana Gil and was so very sad to learn of her passing. As former owner of Bare Essentials in Wilmington, Dana walked into my small shop a few years ago to apply for a job. With that head of curls flowing around face and a big smile on her face, she was a vision of beauty. I hired her and she worked for me off and on for many years. I truly loved her and she became part of my extended family in Delaware. May I offer my prayers to her parents and siblings in hopes that you can take comfort in knowing how truly special Dana was and how much she was loved and admired. Rest in Peace, sweet girl, in the arms of our Heavenly Father. Debbie Esslinger

My deepest condolences to the Gil and Chouinard families. I am so sorry for the loss of Dana. I'll always remember her as the happy little girl full of energy, and kind words for all. One of most found memories of Dana I remember is: During leaf season, she would hide in the leaves and pop out at you as you walked by. I always thought it was super funny, and will remember her fun loving spirit. Jamie, I'm so sorry for the loss of your sister, I'm glad we were able to have so many fun times growing up together. Much Love and prayers.

Terry Moore, Headquarters Hair Salon writes,
To the Gil, Chouinard and Thomas families, I was very sorry to read that your beautiful daughter, sister, aunt, Dana, passed away a couple of weeks ago. I didn't know her, my daughter may have, who also went to Newark High at the same time. It's always sad to read of someone so young passing away and it touched my heart especially knowing Michael, Lyra and Haley coming in the salon for many years. Dana was a beautiful, young woman who will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her. We had all had to cope with the death of loved ones and I find Bible scriptures that has helped my cope with devastating losses. They are found at John 5:28,29 and Acts 24:15. I hope that they bring comfort to you at this difficult time. My deepest sympathies are with you.
