Charles R. McKenney

Charles R. McKenney passed away peacefully in his home on January 17, 2024. Charles was born in Boston, MA. His family moved to Portland Maine and after his high school years he attended the University of Maine and graduated with a BS in Chemistry in 1951. Upon graduation he accepted a job with the DuPont Company; however, he had an obligation to the US military. He was stationed in Rocky Mountain National Arsenal in Denver, CO for 2 years, where he met the love of his life Annette Fox.

Charles married Annette in Denver in 1956 and upon completion of his military obligation they relocated to a DuPont site in Martinsburg, WV. Chuck and Annette relocated to numerous DuPont assignments and eventually landed in Wilmington, DE.

Charles was an Eagle Scout, a Mason, and a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. He enjoyed stamp collecting and bowling in the Dupont Retiree League.

Charles is predeceased by his son, Clay Wayne, his wife Annette and his friend Inga Vanheek. He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Vichich (Tom), his two grandchildren Paige and Austin, and his daughter Keva Ann Mendola (Chuck).

Our Family would like to thank the caregivers, Gail, Venice, and The Delaware Hospice organization for their excellent services to Charles. We would also like to thank Dr. Marc Grobman and his staff for their guidance and excellent care during this difficult time.
