Charles P. Campbell

Charles P. Campbell of Wilmington, DE, passed from this world to the next on April 25, 2025, just 11 days short of his 96th birthday.  Born in New Castle, DE in 1929, he was the son of the late William and Katherine (nee Toner) Campbell. The younger of two sons, he graduated from Salesianum School in 1946, then from the U of Delaware, a Masters from U of Kentucky, and finally from NYU Dental school in 1956.  While at NYU he met Dorothy Verone who would become the love of his life.  After they married, he served his country while attached to the Medical Corps of the United States Army of the Occupation of France as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He left the service and established his Dental practice at 5th and South Streets in New Castle, just two blocks from the home where he was born and raised.  Charles and Dorothy raised three sons who each followed their own paths to success.

He was predeceased by his spouse Dorothy Verone Campbell.  He is survived by sons Paul (Cynthia) Campbell of Boulder, CO, David (Lisa) Campbell of Wilmington, DE and Peter Campbell of Wilmington, DE, grandchildren Aleister Campbell, Trevor (Darian) Campbell, Carolyn (John) Morgera, and Lauren Campbell along with three great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at noon at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 7 Sharpley Rd., Wilmington, DE with a visitation immediately preceding it from 11:00-noon.  A Committal Service will follow at Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a tree in Charles’ honor.
