Condolences

I had the pleasure of helping Chuck on occasion when we worked at Freightliner. I was in Parts in Portland and he was in Service and when we spoke, he was always BUSINESS first and then we would share how things were going in the field and Portland. We could laugh at issues affecting both of us and he could resolve issues for our customers as well. He was a person that was both liked and respected. A true professional.

    Jay Fitzpatrick writes,
I have so many fond memories of my Uncle Chuck. He was soft spoken, kind, and had a quiet confidence about him. As a child, I would visit the Moore family at their Homer residence and he/Aunt Liz always treated me as their own. I was so very appreciative when he and my Aunt Liz attended my father’s funeral services nearly three years ago in Goldsboro, NC. I always had a tremendous amount of respect for my Uncle Chuck and always enjoyed our telephone conversations over many years. My one regret is that we didn’t get the opportunity to see each other more over the years. You were such a wonderful person Uncle Chuck and a great role model. Know that you will be severely missed by your family/friends and that we love you. Jay Fitzpatrick

While working for Freightliner, Chuck hired me in 1993. Chuck was a great man who loved his family and the people that worked for him. I always knew Chuck had our backs and he would protect us from the “political” side of Freightliner Corp. He had a sometime quiet sense of humor, stirring the pot behind the scenes in fun. He made a hard job enjoyable Thanks for everything you did for me Chuck- love you and will miss you. My sincere condolences to Liz and all of Chuck’s family and friends

Im so sorry to hear of Chucks passing. My heart and condolences go out to all. I remember he and Liz opened their hearts and home up to me right out if high school. He was such a kind gentle man. I always think about Chuck trying to convince me to join the military. 40 plus years later I still think of him and wonder where my life would have taken me if I took his advice. Rest in peace, and God bless.

    Mary Lou Bordwell writes,
Liz and family, I was surprised to read of Chuck's passing. Last time I saw him was at the Blanchard Reunion a long time ago. He always seemed like such an easy-going person. We would chat on line occasionally. He would ask about Cortland, and I would tell him he looked so much like Uncle Nelson Blanchard. I loved the photo of him on his motorcycle. My Mom, Elizabeth, loved to go to Aunt Alice's for coffee and to chat. I do visit her/Frank's/Gordie's gravesite and bring decorations. My sister Susan and I are thinking of you all. Mary Lou Bordwell, granddaughter of Marian Blanchard Metcalf.
